AVEENO® Baby has teamed up with babyfood expert and influencer Miriam Cooper – better known as Mimi’s Bowl – following Allergy Awareness Week, highlighting the importance of careful diet and skincare to avoid known allergens.
Miriam has been sharing her delicious, simple and nutritious baby food recipes with parents for the past two years, with the aim to end “babyfood panic” an anxiety about how to feed your baby and what to feed your baby. She shares her honest experiences of cooking at home for her family; whilst offering parent cooking hacks and recipes.
As someone who has experienced sensitive skin persoally and with her children, she understands the impact that allergens can have on the skin and how important it is to build the natural skin barrier from an early age to protect against allergens where possible.
During the introduction of new foods parents may begin to notice skin irritation due to allergens, Mimi’s Bowl has created two allergen-free recipes for AVEENO® Baby using locally sourced ingredients to show parents how to create simple, easy and delicious meals for babies with sensitive skin to reduce the worry of irritation.
Miriam Cooper, baby food expert and creator of Mimi’s Bowl, said:
“As someone who’s lived with and now has children with sensitive, easily irritated skin, I understand the importance of taking care of both what my family eats and what we put on our skin. Launching Mimi’s Bowl allowed me to show parents how easy it is to create simple, healthy and seasonal meals for their children and I’m excited to share these new recipes in partnership with AVEENO® Baby to show parents that even meals for allergy-prone skin don’t have to be complicated, dull or unhealthy and help to reduce worry for parents during this new stage of parenting.”
As well as carefully selecting their baby’s diet, it’s essential that parents help to strengthen their natural skin barrier to defend it against irritants. The AVEENO® Baby range of skin care products combine the natural soothing and protecting qualities of oats with rich emollients. Working directly with paediatricians, the range has been designed to help restore the skin’s natural moisture barrier and actively prevent and protect dry skin and itchy irritation.
Rebecca Bennett, AVEENO® Baby Skincare expert says,
“Baby’s skin is 30% thinner than adult skin and loses hydration much more quickly, therefore they are more prone to changes in environment and sensitivity. Building up the natural skin barrier helps to lock in moisture and reduce irritation. The AVEENO® Baby range is designed to create a breathable skin barrier to protect against external irritants.”
Oats have long been used not only as a nutrient but also as an external ingredient to help moisturise, soothe, cleanse, buffer and protect dry irritable skin.
AVEENO® Baby Dermexa products combine colloidal oatmeal, oat oil and oat essence with ceramides, known to help rebuild the core elements of the skin. The products moisturise and soothe and help to strengthen the skin barrier. The products are also suitable for babies who may be prone to eczema.
